An informative diary about a well-known topic ...
Social Media: a boon or a curse?
Of course, you know about social media far too well .....
Well ,well ,well .... In this seemingly descriptive post of mine have I decided to incite my opinion to the public about an auxiliary suppliant which has become a part of daily lives - social media and the social networking.
As they say, always two there are, not more not less ... it is most likely that there are indeed two sides of social media -- a bright side and a dark, creepy one.
The Bright side:
Noticing the fact that social media is omnipresent and is by virtue, existent in innumerable incarnations and travels at the speed of light, I can admit that social media has helped me reduce the burden of having to go on a quest for finding out the truth from the corners of the world.
Social media makes it easier for us to share our passions, share our knowledge and consume shared knowledge at ease.
That itself is the motto of social networking and the sole purpose of social networking being made - A networking which is Social. Media which is social and sociable. With the help of social networks and social media apps, communication has become as easy as pie!
The Dark Side:
The entire network is crazy about how rampant cybercrime is and how scary creepy the world has gotten in this era of digital madness.
Here is a list of the many possibilities of how the dark side haunts you :
- Cybercrime in the form of scam
- Fraud
- Plagiarism & Piracy
- Anonymous websites flooded with suspicious links which might infect you with viruses, worms, trojan horses and bugs.
- The worse of all: Internet trolls, hoaxes and Cyberbullying.
Study proclaims that across the internet, a total of 700 million people have been victim to cyber bullying. Thats literally 93% of the entire population of kid from age 7-22 .... And yet, this is just the beginning ...... marketing scams, workspace trolls, trash talkers online, misleading of people by false advertising and much, much more than meets the human eye.Over the years, the crudity of the internet has increased at electrifying speeds.
Conclusion: Boon or Curse, what do you say? why so? Time to Brainstorm!
After a considerable amount of black tea and in-depth analysis, I can say a few points and wrap up our session (for now) .
- The social network is not always accurate and can many times be misleading.
- We must approach with vigilance and caution and never give away personal details and personal secrets to anyone online.
- And now, for the crucial part ... From what I've learnt, people who want to do good will do good be it on social media websites or be it in the real world. Likewise, Bad, corrupt and uncanny people will find, invent and adapt all possible ways to disrupt the sanity and harmony of mankind.
- Social networking is a knife sharp on both the sides, when in the right hands, we can make for ourselves a comfy with a salubrious and well served meal. If in the wrong hands, world nations would collapse, humanity would cease to exist and the world as we know it would be ripped apart.
